Standard 7 Lautsprecher Soundsystem Plug&Play Upgrade

  • I'm sorry but do I need to use crossovers when I change the speakers of my B&O sound system or the system already has separate channels for the midbasses and tweeters? I'm looking to change the factory ones to Gladen speakers (3 Ohm)- still choosing a model.

  • Well, that question nails a problem with speaker upgrade on Explorer/Capri EV.
My hifi car dealer guessed before the build, that there is only one pair of loudspeaker cables from the radio to the front system, which simply splits "Y"-like without a real crossover, before going into the door to mid-speaker / up to tweeter. An it turns out to be this way. Crossover job is then done simply by this electrolytic capacitor on the back of the factory tweeter.

they put in new tweeter wires to DSP amp, so tweeters have their own channels on DSP. That was considered to be easier than splitting the original tweeter wires + adding a real crossover in the "depth" of the dashboard. If the crossover ist small enough, it might fit into the tweeter compartment, there is some space left.
